NEW CAMP INFO

The 2012 Summer Camps Booklets (with registration form) are here! You may take one from the desk in the Youth Ministry Office. You can also find all the information and the registration form online at: www.westmichiganconference.org/camping.  Because our scholarship funds are down this year the church may not be able to cover as much of the expense as in recent years (which was everything but the $75 registration fee).  However, we’ll still be able to offer generous scholarship support.  Watch for details.

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2011

 

Once again our doors opened wide for Vacation Bible School and about 45 children came tumbling in to experience Shake It Up Cafe.  More than a dozen teenagers arrived early each morning to lend a hand as well.

 

Our VBS theme was food this year.  Pastor Heaton put on a chef's jacket and hat each morning and became Chef Basil, complete with an Italian accent.  Thanks to Eric Thorne, each child received their own chef's hat.  They made aprons and potholders in art, sampled pizza and fresh-picked strawberries for snack time and discovered how yeast works in discovery time. They sang songs and danced to videos played on our new large video screens in the sanctuary.  But most importantly, they learned how the Bible is God's recipe book for us to follow.

The children rotated throughout the morning to the following activities:

• Art - run by Nicole Thorne and Cori Feldpausch
• Music - run by Hanna Cordes and Amy Case
• Storytelling - run by Michelle Smith and Kevin Howe
• Discovery (science experiments) and Recreation - run by Linda McCuen
• Shake it Up Cafe - run by Kathy Bender
